Eminent doctor S.K. Sarin has been chosen for the coveted Dhanvantari award for excellence in the medical field for 2013.

 

Sarin is an internationally renowned gastroenterologist and has contributed immensely to the development of this speciality in India.

 

 At present, he is director of the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences here. He is a former chairman of the board of governors of the Medical Council of India.

 

 The award will be presented to Sarin at a function on Oct 27, a release said here Tuesday.

 

 Earlier recipients of this award include pioneer in heart transplant surgery Christian Bernard.
