New Delhi: Delhi's Tis Hazari court today convicted ex-BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the Unnao rape case. Another accused was acquitted by the court-Shashi Singh. It is expected that sentencing will take place on 19 December. The girl's rape, then a minor, took place in 2017. The case soon became a tale of police callousness, bureaucratic incompetence, and bullying by a politician who seemed to enjoy leniency at every move of a young girl and her vulnerable family; amid sharp criticism, the ruling party punished for rape just one year after his conviction.
