On Saturday in a firecracker explosion at Tarn Taran district in Punjab, as many as two people were killed and 11 injured. The incident occurred during the ' nagar kirtan ' (religious procession) near the village of Pahu in Tarn Taran, where people burst sparks from crackers fell on the tractor -trolley where the fireworks were piled. Capt Amarinder Singh, Punjab's chief minister, has ordered a magisterial investigation into the blast. He also announced an ex-gratia payment for the kin of the deceased and free care of the injured to Rs 5 lakhs.
