Swearing-in of Devendra Fadnavis as the 27th chief minister of Maharashtra (and off course, the first BJP chief minister of the state) took place at an extravagant public function at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao administered the oath of office to Fadnavis in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah, senior BJP leader L K Advani, several union cabinet ministers, and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states, corporate honchos, Bollywood stars and other celebrities.
Along with Fadnavis the others who took oath as cabinet ministers were Eknath Khadse, Vinod Tawde, Pankaja Munde, Sudhir.S.Mungantiwar, Chandrakant.B.Patil, Vishnu Ram Sawara and Prakash Mehta. Vidya Thakur and Dilip Kabale were sworn-in as MOS.
Besides ministers from the BJP ruled states, former Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, too, graced the occasion. Those present among the dignitaries, from both the corporate world as well as the Tinsel Town, were, Ratan Tata, Mukesh Ambani, Poonam Dhillon, Mugdha Godse besides others.
A lavish ceremony at Wankade stadium was laid with over 2000 policemen to provide foolproof security to the dignitaries.
