Five Delhi policemen arrested for killing man

Five Delhi Police personnel were suspended and taken into police custody for killing a 30-year-old man whom they had apprehended Monday and kept at their own place without official information, officials said.
Manoj Kumar's health condition deteriorated suddenly after he was allegedly beaten up in the custody of the policemen.
Kumar, who works at a private company, was arrested by the policemen under charges of keeping a pistol and brandishing it on several occasions, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Suman Goyal.
"The policemen did not gave official information about the apprehension of the victim. They kept him at their own place where his health deteriorated suddenly. He was rushed to the DDU hospital where doctors declared him dead," she said.
All the five policemen, having ranks of constable and head constable, were suspended and arrested, she said. An official inquiry has also been conducted against the five policemen. The family members of the victim Monday protested outside the Bindapur police station, where the five policemen were posted.
