Forget delivery boys who make lame excuses of being stuck in the traffic. Now the pizza will fly down till your door.
Sounds strange? It is going to be a reality soon and your pizza will be home-delivered by a GPS-enabled copter drone.
A small pizza outlet in Lower Parel managed to make a noncommercial test delivery that covered 3 kms. The test-flight was done on May 11 from its Phoenix Mill Compound outlet at Lower Parel in Mumbai to Worli. The four rotor drone dropped the pizza which weighed half a kilo to a customer in less than 30 minutes.
Francesco’s Pizzeria Chief executive Mikhel Rajani who was inspired by Amazon’s recent test air deliveries tried to execute this into India which boasts of a large Pizza market. Rajani was assisted by his auto engineer friend to carry out this operation.
However, various aviation regulations made by the Government are coming on the way to turn this dream into a routine reality.
“While the technology exists, we cannot use it commercially at present due to certain air security regulations," an official from the pizza chain said.
