Guwahati: A day after Assam's complete shutdown to protest the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, fresh protests erupted in the state on Wednesday when the Rajya Sabha bill was being discussed. To face the situation, the police had to fire rubber bullets and resort to lathi charge on the protestors in Dibrugarh district, police said. A mob injured a journalist in stone pelting, and police forced tear gas shells to disperse them near a Dibrugarh city polytechnic school, police said.
