Jeeva Pandu Gavit was on Monday sworn in as Protem Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. Jeeva is a seven-term Member of the state Assembly.

The swearing in ceremony was held today at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai. Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao gave oath of office to Gavit at a brief oath-taking ceremony. Gavit represents the Kalwan assembly constituency.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Chairman of Maharashtra Legislative Council Shivajirao Deshmukh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prakash Mehta, Chief Secretary Swadheen Kshatriya, and other senior government officials were present on the occasion.
