Government will solve OROP issue: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday again assured the country's former servicemen on the one rank-one pension (OROP) issue, asserting that his government would find a solution to it.
"This government, and I repeat, this government will give a solution to OROP (issue)," Modi said in his monthly radio address, 'Mann Ki Baat'.
"I am not talking as a prime minister. For 40 years, this (OROP) question has been persisting. Nothing has happened so far," he added.
On Saturday also, Modi said that his government was "committed" to the long-awaited OROP for ex-servicemen.
OROP relates to payment of uniform pension to defence forces personnel retiring in the same rank with the same length of service, irrespective of their date of retirement.
