Torrential rain lashed Mumbai and large parts of coastal and western Maharashtra early on Wednesday, providing welcome relief from the extended summer in the city. Monsoon is delayed by over three weeks – the normal date for its onset was June 10.
The heavy downpour resulted in water-logging at several low-lying areas in the city and created obstructions in road and rail traffic within and outside the city.
The suburban train services between Vikhroli to Sion are greatly affected with trains running behind schedules.
