Heavy rains in Mumbai to continue: MeT
After its belated arrival, monsoon has gained momentum to cheer thirsty Mumbaikars. In the past couple of days, Mumbai and the coastal Konkan region have registered heavy downpours. Colaba recorded 11 cm of rainfall on July 10 and 10 cm on July 11, with heavy rains expected in the next 48 hours.

Betraying El Nino which was predicted earlier, this activity is credited to a change in the course of wind over the west coast, which has accelerated the speed of moisture-laden wind towards the Konkan belt. Similarly, an upper air cyclonic circulation over South Gujarat coast and a simultaneous low-pressure area forming over the north of Bay of Bengal has led to heavy rainfall over most parts of Konkan and Goa.

This period of heavy rainfall will continue for two more days, the MeT announced. However, fishermen have been cautioned to desist from venturing deep into the sea during this period. Similarly, the BMC, Railways and traffic control room as well as other state agencies have been intimated about the expected rainfall.
