Himachal CM lays foundation stone of engineering college

Shimla,  Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Sunday laid the foundation stone of Mahatma Gandhi Engineering College at Kotla in Shimla district that will be constructed with an outlay of Rs.118.5 crore.

 
Addressing a public meeting at Jeuri near Kotla, the chief minister said the college would cater to the needs of the youth of the area besides the nearby places of Rekong Peo and Pooh in Kinnaur district.
 
He said classes have started in Sundernagar town for the time being.
 
Virbhadra Singh also inaugurated the sewerage system for Jhakri town completed at a cost of Rs.11.5 crore, an official statement said. It will cover three habitations having a population of 1,130.
 
Technical Education Minister G.S. Bali said it was a matter of pride for the people of the area to have an engineering college.
 
He said a provision of Rs.12 crore has been made initially for the construction.
