In Srinagar Restrictions

Today in Srinagar, a day after the government said sporadic conflicts took place in the town after the constraints were loosened yesterday, prohibitory orders prohibiting big meetings were re-imposed.

Police vehicles were seen making loudspeaker announcements requesting individuals to return home, and shopkeepers were told to shut down their stores.

A spokesman for the Home Ministry said there were "stray demonstrations" in Srinagar and Baramulla on Saturday, none of which involved a crowd of over 20 individuals.

The Ministry of Home Affairs also rejected press reports of some 10,000 people protesting in the Kashmir Valley as "fabricated and wrong."
