Jain delegation demands implementation of bill banning cow slaughter
A delegation of Jain religious leaders and followers led by Member of State Legislative Assembly Mangal Prabhat Lodha met the Governor of Maharashtra K Sankaranarayanan at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai on Friday (18 July).

The delegation requested the Governor to direct the State Government to take necessary steps for the immediate implementation of the law banning cow slaughter (Gouvansh Raksha Kanoon) in the State.

Lodha informed the Governor that the State Legislature had passed a bill banning cow slaughter 18 years ago.  He said the bill was referred by the State Government to the Central Government which in turn had asked for a detailed report from the State Government. He said that despite three reminders from the Centre, the State Government had not submitted its report to the Centre.

Muni Vinamrasagarji, Gani Vitraghyash, Girish Shah, Sanjay Shah, Kanak Parmar, Laxminarayan Chandak and others were present.
