June rainfall breaks record, 1,039 mm so far

It is still one week for June to end, but the rainfall for the month has touched a record. The amount of rainfall recorded till June 23 this year in Santa Cruz is 1038.6 mm — the highest since 1971. In June 1971, 1037.1 mm rainfall was recorded. Colaba recorded 827.8 mm rainfall in June. The expected average rainfall for the season is 2.230 mm for Colaba and 2,558 mm for Santacruz

India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in the city on Wednesday.

"Intermittent rain and showers will occur throughout the week. Heavy to very heavy rainfall, accompanied by strong gusty winds, in some parts of the city is on the anvil on Wednesday," said a weather official. Moderate showers will continue in Mumbai till June 29.
