Senior Congressman Jyotiraditya Scindia today surprisingly supported the government in its decision to end Jammu and Kashmir's unique status under Article 370 and divide it into two union territories.

Jyotiraditya Scindia, secretary-general of the party, tweeted his backing just before a session of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the top decision-making body of the party, to strengthen its position on Kashmir.

"I support the move on #JammuAndKashmir & #Ladakh and its full integration into union of India. Would have been better if constitutional process had been followed. No questions could have been raised then. Nevertheless, this is in our country's interest and I support this," Jyotiraditya Scindia tweeted.
