The Jammu and Kashmir government Tuesday released Rs.100 crore each for the administrations in the Kashmir valley and the Jammu region for temporary restoration of infrastructure following the massive floods.

 

 

 "The state government today (Tuesday) placed Rs.100 crore each for temporary restoration of infrastructure at the disposal of the divisional commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir, in addition to the already released Rs.100 crore each," said an official statement issued here.

 

 It said the "multi-disciplinary" teams constituted to assess the loss due to the floods were working actively.

 

 De-watering pumps have been installed in various places to drain out the stagnant flood waters from Srinagar city, it said.

 

 The statement said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was continuously monitoring the relief operation and has directed close coordination between all departments for ensuring speedy rehabilitation of the flood victims.

 

 Abdullah has also appealed to insurance companies to depute their teams in flood-hit areas to settle claims.

 

 The Mughal Road connecting Rajouri district of Jammu region with the Kashmir valley has also been thrown open for all types of traffic.

 

 One-way traffic has resumed on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway.

 

 Rail services has also resumed from Budgam district to Baramulla district, and steps are being taken to open up the track up to Banihal, it said.

 

 Authorities said 100 tonnes of foodgrain have been rushed to Srinagar and Budgam in the last two days. Foodgrain have also been distributed in Anantnag, Pulwama and adjoining areas.

 

 Nearly 40 lakh chlorine tablets have reached the valley and Abdullah has directed that the tablets should be distributed along with the relief material.

 

 Nine lakh tablets have already been distributed in the flood-affected areas.

 

 Authorities said the Bone and Joint Hospital, the Rainwara Hospital and the super specialty SKIMS Soura in Srinagar have resumed functioning.

 

 The SKIMS Bemina hospital, which was inundated, will be made partially functional in a couple of days after draining out the water, an official said in Srinagar.
