Media Eye News Bureau: A special CBI court convicted former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and sentenced to five years in jail, who is serving a jail term in the second fodder scam case, in another fodder scam case, along with former Bihar CM Jagannath Mishra and 48 other accused persons while the court also acquitted six.

Special CBI court judge S S Prasad pronounced the judgment related to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 33.67 crore from the Chaibasa Treasury in 1992-1993.

It was alleged that Rs 33.67 crore was withdrawn on fake allotment letters as the state sanctioned amount of Rs 7.10 lakhs originally.

Lalu Yadav was the Chief Minister of undivided Bihar from 1990 to 1997 when the fodder scam involving the embezzlement of more than Rs 970 crore in government funds took place.

Ex-CM Jagannath Mishra, who was acquitted in the last fodder scam case, has been convicted in this one.

Lalu Yadav was earlier convicted in the first case of fodder scam four years ago and got bail after staying in prison for two months. The former CM was convicted for the second time by the Ranchi court in last December while he and his party cried foul, calling it political vendetta.
