Lizard in mid-day meal: Students fall ill!

Once again the mid-day meals scheme hogs limelight all for the wrong reasons. At least sixteen students fall ill after being served mid-day meal at ISCON-run Central Kitchen at Gamariah in Jamshedpur on Monday afternoon.
Students felt nausea and complained of stomach pain after eating the meal, , said a district official. They were immediately rushed to the primary health centre but were discharged after they were provided the first-aid.
Following the incident, all the 93 students of the school were made to go through medical checkup and found to be alright, he said. Ironically, one of the students found a lizard in his plate and complained to the principal of the institution, who had himself tasted the food prior to it was served among the students, the official said.
The district administration has constituted a four-member team headed by Additional Collector to probe the incident and assured that the action would be taken against the culprits.
