Mamata appeals to people to join her Delhi rally

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Monday appealed to people to join her rally with social activist Anna Hazare at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan March 12. In a post on social networking site Facebook, Banerjee said "Annaji will be addressing the gathering. If time permits, I may also address."
"May I appeal to all my brothers and sisters to join and extend full support at Ramlila Maidan," she said. Meanwhile, speaking at the launch of ETV's 24-hour Bengali news channel, Banerjee spoke out against the depiction of violence on news chanels.
"People don't like bloodshed. TV news should be soothing," she said. Stressing the importance of the media, she said "It's role is very vital for a strong democracy".
