A 38-year-old rickshaw-puller has been arrested for molesting an eight-year-old girl in his neighborhood here, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place on Friday when the girl was flying a kite near her house in Timarpur area of north Delhi.

After hearing the girl scream, some neighbors caught rickshaw-puller Pashupati Nath and beat him up before handling him over to police.

"When the girl was searching for a kite, Pashupati Nath took her to a room and molested her there," a police official said.

The official said they were trying to find out if the accused had molested the girl more than once in the past or it was his first attempt.
