Mediation Failed Before

New Delhi: On Saturday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said he knew nothing would result from the three-member commission appointed by the Supreme Court to mediate in the Ayodhya issue.

He said efforts to mediate were also made before "Mahabharat," a conflict in Indian mythology between the "Pandavas" and the "Kauravas," but they failed. The remarks come one day after the tribunal disbanded the mediation panel, in the decades-old conflict declared regular hearings on August 6.

The panel of former Supreme Court judge FM Kalifulla, religious guru Sri Sri Ravishankar and senior lawyer Sriram Panchu began consultations in March to explore a friendly settlement.

Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, dissolving the board, said on Friday that there was no settlement by mediation.
