Srinagar, March 29: Terrorists have started harassing families of police officers and constables in the valley in a bid to create pressure on them to turn down their duties. In a recent attack they ransacked the house of a senior police officer in Kulgam, theratening the family while the officer was out of the house. This is the third such incident in the past seven days in the valley where terrorists are thriving on local support.
According to police, four terrorists on Tuesday night ransacked the house of a senior police officer in Khudwani village.They threatened the inmates before leaving the house.
A day earlier, militants had ransacked an assistant sub-inspector's house in Dairoo village of Shopian district.Earlier, they looted the house and torched the car of a Jammu and Kashmir Prisons Department officer in Budgam district.
During all these incidents, the police officers were not present in their homes.Police have been targets of the militants who threaten officers to give up their jobs or face dire consequences.
The incident took place a day after hectic counter terror ops took place in the valley in Budgam yesterday. The op lasted for seven hours where the para military had to ward off the locals sheltering the terrorists along with providing a setup for the para commandos to carry out their op as well. Close to 43 CRPF men and 23 JK police men were injured during the stone pelting clashes, three civilian boys who were relentlessly pelting stones were also killed during the ops. A
