An eight-year-old girl was Tuesday raped by a man who lived in her neighbourhood, police said. The accused is on the run.

 

 The victim was lured by her neighbour Tuesday evening to an isolated place near her home in Alipur in west Delhi and raped. The accused, whose name was withheld by police, also threatened the girl with dire consequences if she told anybody about the assault.

 

 "She came back home crying and told her parents. A case of rape has been registered following medical examination which confirmed rape," said a police officer.
