New Delhi,Jan 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya on the occasion of their Statehood day. The Pm took to twitter to pass on his greetings to the three North Eastern States and wished them all the best for the development that they have acheived and for more to come. 

"On their Statehood Day, I convey my best wishes to the people of Tripura and pray for the state's all-round growth. "Greetings to the people of Manipur on their Statehood Day. I hope Manipur will remain blessed with joy and prosperity," Modi said.
 
Under the North-Eastern Areas (Re-organisation) Act, 1971, Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya attained statehood on January 21, 1972. For a long time post Independece Assam was the single largest entity in the North East and the rest of the states were carved out of it in the days to come.
