Mono services disrupted again

By ME Bureau

The Mumbai Monorail seems to be in trouble again.  Services on the Chembur-Wadala route were suspended for one and a half hours due to power fluctuations on Friday evening.

An MMRDA spokesperson said, "The services were suspended at 6.30pm and resumed at 8pm. There was power fluctuation all through the alignment. All trains were at stations when the incident happened." A source said as many as 10 services were cancelled.

This is the second time in the last two months that a power-related fault has led to suspension of services. On March 15, Monorail operators Larsen & Tourbo and Scomi Engineering had to carry out a train-to-ground evacuation to rescue 11 commuters, including the train captain, who had got stuck in the mid-section. The state government has instituted an inquiry, led by principal secretary (urban development), into the incident.
