Mumbai has enough till June end
The rise in temperatures and the possible threat of late monsoon this year, will have no effect on Mumbai’s water supply. According to BMC officials Mumbai has enough water stock to last till June end.

Additional municipal commissioner Mohan Adtani said at the .standing committee on Wednesday, “ Water in all six lakes is 40 % more than what it was in the same period last year.  "Even if we have a 20% deficit rainfall, we still will have enough stocks. The situation in our lakes is not worrisome.” According to the BMC, the water stock in all six lakes is 3.6 lakh million litres as of now, compared to last year  it was 2.6 lakh million litres barring Tansa, the useful content of the other lakes—ModakSagar, Vihar, Tulsi, Upper Vaitarna and Bhatsa—is adequate. The priority is to avoid wastage of water, said a civic official. So, the BMC has asked officers to look for leaks in pipes and plug them. A leak detection drive will soon be started in all wards.
