Mumbai: Injured man dies in police station

Crime never bids adieu to this metropolis. A severely wounded tempo driver with his throat slit managed to drive down to a police station in Govandi – a suburb on the outskirts of Mumbai, on Friday and sought their help before collapsing. He was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A case of murder has been registered against unknown persons.

A Govandi resident, Moinuddin Shaikh (22) had taken to driving merely two months ago.

When the victim reached the police station, cops saw that his throat had been slit.

"Despite such a deep cut, he managed to drive to the police station," said an officer.

Shaikh left home for work on Friday morning. After dropping down a passenger in Ghatkopar, he was heading home, the police said. "It is possible that he gave someone a lift on the way and may have engaged into a heated argument with that person, which led to the attack," said an officer.

His family members informed cops that he had an altercation with a local a month ago and had lodged a case of 'attempt to commit murder' against that person. Since then, he had been asking him to withdraw the case.
