There is a good news for Metro commuters. They can continue to enjoy services at a reduced tariff till September 30, the MMOPL stated on Wednesday.
The Mumbai Metro informed the Bombay High Court that it will continue with the reduced slab rates of Rs 10-20 till September 30. The division bench of Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice M S Sonak added the names of the ministries of urban development, both Union and state, as parties to the MMRDA's appeal for lower fares, and issued notices to them on the subject of appointment and notification of the Fare Fixation Committee (FFC).
The lawyer representing the Centre informed the court that certain measures require to be pursued before the government can notify the FFC, which may prolong. The pleader, however, failed to provide an outer limit date by when it can be done. The bench then adjourned the case till September 1, when the Union government is possibly to make a statement on the FFC.
