One person was detained on Wednesday in Dombivli rape case the police informed. The girl – a minor, was allegedly gang raped at MIDC area near Dombivli, on the outskirts of Mumbai, allegedly by her classmates late on June 23.
She had informed the police; the student who had misbehaved with her on Saturday, had given a ‘spiked’ juice to her on Monday before committing rape. The police have already collected the details of this incident from the college CC TV.
In an identification parade the police brought 5 persons before her, the girl identified one among them who was immediately taken into custody while the remaining four were released. It is still to be established who allegedly raped her but based on her statement and her identifying the prime accused, the police arrested him on July 1 after 7 days of rape.
Meanwhile, the girl has been discharged from the hospital on June 1 and her health is improving. Since she is unable to hear since Monday, she explained everything by gesticulating to a senior police official who visited hospital for enquiry. Vanitha commission chairperson – a forum constituted on June 29 to speed up the case, was also present there, when the police official recording her statement.
The police have sent the new samples to Kalina forensic lab on Wednesday and sought its report urgently.
