A scribe and his wife were today assaulted by six men after he objected to bawdy remarks passed at her at Sainath Market in a Mumbai’s suburb, Malad, police said.
Cops detained one person while hunt was on for the other five.
Malad police informed media persons, Sanjay Prasad, a scribe with a Hindi news channel, and his wife were shopping at the market when a youth allegedly passed a vulgar remark at his wife.
Prasad stoutly objected to this that resulted into a heated spat between them.
The youth walked away only to come back with five others who assaulted the couple after intimidating them with dire consequences, police said.
The youths were donning knuckle-dusters, police said.
Prasad, bleeding profusely, sought cops help who the tracked down Vijay Bahadur Singh, one of the men.
Cops were hunting for the others, informed Additional Police Commissioner Brijesh Singh.
A case has been registered under Indian Penal Code sections 354 (assaulting woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 324 (causing hurt by dangerous weapons), 506 (criminal intimidation) among others.
