The Temple of Lord Ayappa in Kerala is set to open for the Mandala Pooja festival today. No protection will be given to women. Kerala Devaswom Board Minister K Surendran said on Friday, prior to the opening of the Sabarimala Temple, the state government will not provide protection to any woman visiting the temple and those needing protection must receive a Supreme Court order. The top court decided to set up a larger bench to re-examine religious issues, including those that emerged from its earlier decision that lifted a centuries-old ban on menstruating-age women visiting the shrine.
