Over 600 arms seized by EC in Delhi

A total of 605 arms have been seized in the national capital by the Election Commission ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, an official said Thursday.
Of the total, 76 arms were unlicensed while 529 had licences. The capital will go to the polls April 10. "Flying squads in all seven constituencies of the capital have seized 5,927 bottles of liquor, which were being tried to be illegally distributed among voters," said the poll panel official.
A total of 138 police complaints have been registered against political party workers for defacing public and the private property. "Political parties have been given clear instructions to direct their workers against the defacement of public and private properties," the official said.
Over 40,000 people have been detained for violating the model code of conduct which came into force March 5.
