Pakistan again violates ceasefire

Pakistani troops again violated the bilateral ceasefire late Monday when they fired at Indian positions in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, an army spokesperson said Tuesday.
Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing at Indian positions in Mendhar sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district, Colonel R.K. Palta told IANS. "Pakistan fired at our positions in Mendhar sector of the LoC around 9.30 p.m. yesterday (Monday). The fire was retaliated. No loss of life has taken place on our side," the spokesperson said.
Reports from Mendhar said intermittent exchange of fire between India and Pakistan continued till Tuesday morning along the LoC in Mendhar. LoC is the de facto border between India and Pakistan administered parts of Kashmir.
A bilateral ceasefire was signed by India and Pakistan in November 2003 which had been holding for all these years. Since the beginning of this year, India has accused Pakistan of violating the ceasefire agreement. The latest ceasefire violation in Mendhar by Pakistan is the 17th such incident in the last 10 days.
