Pakistan releases Indian Jawan who had strayed into Pak territory last year

Islamabad, Jan 21: The Pakistan Army on Saturday said it will hand over Chandu Babulal Chauhan, an Indian soldier who had inadvertently crossed over the Line of Control in Kashmir in October 2016.

The crossing had happened in the immediate after math of the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian army post the Uri attacks carried out by LeT sponsored terorrists in the valley. Followin the strikes the timing of the stray crossing over of the jawan was being seen as a vantage point for Pakistanis during the time.

Insistant urging from India's side along with the change in the army's command in Pakistan the decision to release the Indian jawan from captivity was taken later last year and holding on to its word Pak officials are set to hand him over to the Indian side very soon now.

The jawan had alledgly crossed over after an altercation with a senior JCO regarding his leave. Following his arrest by the Pakistani rangers his grandmother had reportedly died of a heart attack when the news was broken in his village.
