Pakistani troops violate LoC ceasefire in Jammu

After almost two months of peace along the LoC, Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire Friday, targeting an Indian army posts in Jammu district and sparking off an exchange of fire for about 25 minutes, a defence official said.
This was the second ceasefire violation in the 24 hours since Thursday and four days before the meeting of the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of the two neighbours to discuss ways to prevent ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
"Pakistani troops opened unprovoked fire on the Gigriyal post of the army in Akhnoor sector of the LoC Friday afternoon," a defence spokesman told IANS.
Indian troops retaliated with small arms and automatic weapons and the exchange of fire continued for around 25 minutes, he added.
A Border Security Force (BSF) officer was injured Thursday in firing from across the International Border in the state's Samba district.
Police sources told IANS that sub-inspector Jitender Singh of 68 Battalion was injured at Manayari post in Hira Nagar sector.
The two incidents came shortly after a flag meeting Wednesday held between the Indian and Pakistan army battalion commanders at Chakan-Da-Bagh cross-point in the state's Poonch district to ensure that the ceasefire agreement is observed in letter and spirit.
