Parliament's monsoon session to begin July 21

Parliament's monsoon session, expected to be stormy due to various contentious issues, will begin on July 21, an official said on Wednesday.
"The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) met today (Wednesday) which suggested the dates for it," an official told IANS, adding that the meeting was chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
The session, that will last till August 13, is expected to be stormy as opposition parties have various issues, including the ones related to former chief of Indian Premier League (IPL) Lalit Modi and land acquisition ordinance issue.
Earlier, it was proposed to commence the monsoon session from July 20, but keeping in view the Eid festival, which may fall on July 18 or 19, a decision was taken to start it from July 21.
The government is already facing criticism from the opposition on the Lalit Modi controversy and land acquisition ordinance issue.
The Congress is pressurising the government to drop External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia in connection with the Lalit Modi row.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu, Law Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda and Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan were also present in the CCPA meet, the official said.
