Bogota, Nov 29: A plane carrying Brazil's Chapecoense football team crashed in Colombia, the media reported on Tuesday.The crash occurred due to lack of fuel at around 10.35 pm as reported by local media. Ten people have been injured in the crash, the plane was carrying 72 people in total.
The passengers were being evacuated from the scene, La Union fire department commander said.The plane was flying to Jose Maria Cordova International Airport in Rionegro, the second largest airport in Colombia.
The team was travelling to compete in the Copa Sudamericana finals.Chapecoense was scheduled to compete against Colombia's Atletico Nacional on Wednesday. After learning of the crash, the South American football confederation CONMEBOL said the football tournament has been suspended, El Universo reported.
