PM lays foundation stone of AIIMS in Punjab, addresses the audience too
Bathinda (Punjab), Nov 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday laid the foundation stone of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bathinda district in Punjab.He also addressed the audience there which mainly consisted of farmers from the districts. The Prime Minister spoke on a number of topics.
The 750-bed hospital and institute will be built at a cost of Rs 925 crore and will be spread over 200 acres. The AIIMS project is aimed at catering to patients of south-west Punjab, comprising of Bathinda, Mansa and Sangrur where cancer and other diseases are widely prevalent.
The institute, which will be completed in two years, will also cater to the needs of the people in adjoining areas of Haryana and Rajasthan.Bathinda is the Lok Sabha constituency of Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal.
After the inauguration the Prime Minister spoke to the farmers of the region and thanked them all for the support that demonitisation has received from the masses. He reasserted on his promise to amass all the black money across the country and put it for welfare projects meant for the people. He applauded the people of India for taking on the hardships for the sake of a better future for the country.
He implored the people to not give up the fight and stand firm. PM urged the people to move towards digital banking and reiterated the importance of the mobile phones in engaging with digital banking without depending on hard cash for transactions.
“If we want to stop all corruption then we need to bring about transparency, we can do this through awareness led by the youngsters and technicians in order to help others explore all possible digital transactions. You have nothing to fear then , there will be no fear of fake currency and requested the people to spread the awareness as far as possible”, stated the PM while talking about the need to spread awareness and interest in digital banking.
Talking about the ongoing water crises in the state, PM promised the people of Punjab that the water scarcity will be resolved through brainstorming which involves bringing in water from the Indus Water treaty into India to help resolve water shortage in various states across Northern India. “ The farmer of Punjab only needs enough water to reap gold for the rest of the country in the form of an abundant harvest”, Narender Modi commented while talking about the urgency to bring back water into Punjab which is facing water shortage and depleting water tables across the state in recent times.
