PM Modi to chair his first cabinet meeting today

The newly elected PM Narendra Damodar Das Modi will resume his duty on Tuesday morning at 8 AM sharp.  Later in the evening, at 6.30, he will chair the cabinet meeting to discuss on the agenda of the new government.

It is presumed, the new government will discuss about a robust economic road map to arrest inflation and fiscal anarchy in the cabinet meeting. He would also have dialogues with his counterparts from SAARC nations, particularly the Pakistan’s PM Nawaz Shareef on terrorism and bilateral trade at 12.10 PM today. He is also slated to take up the issue of Most Favored Nation Status which Pakistan has still not accorded to India after much speculation in the media.

Shareef, later in the day, would visit the former premier Atal Bihari Vajpayee at his residence in New Delhi.

Modi took oath in the name of God in chaste Hindi on the fore court lawn in Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday evening at 6 PM. In a shortest ever oath any Indian Prime Minister had taken, Modi ended his swearing-in speech in about a minute.

The swearing of India’s 15th Prime Minister took place amid tight security, with over 6000 air and defence personnel, NSGs, SPGs and Delhi Police guarding the entire Raisina Hill, where the imposing President House is located.

The guest list was as spectacular as the swearing-in itself, with an array of heads of SAARC nations besides Mauritius PM Ramgulam, leaders of political parties, prominent industrialists and film stars gracing the historic occasion.
