Heavy showers have swept away the tall claims of BMC. The civic agency had promised to rid city streets of potholes this monsoon. Now at Dindoshi flyover alone .we counted 15 potholes, thanks to the heavy downpour since past three days that has again opened up the old potholes that were repaired recently.
The rough and jerky roads cause traffic snarls by arresting vehicles’ speed, and also expose two-wheelers to the peril of skidding.
After a few slabs developed fissures beneath, as discovered by an expert team, it was put to repair in May. The repair, too, was mired in red tape, with the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) and Traffic police vacillating over when to fix it and how much time to take for the work.
The structure ultimately went under hammer and shovel on May 4, and the Traffic cops allowed MSRDC to mend it before May 31.
In the midst of blame game between the two crucial agencies – traffic police and the MSRDC, the gantry that barred heavy vehicles from plying on the flyover also disappeared, weakening it further. MSRDC is clueless about the vanished gantry.
