President's daughter to contest Delhi polls

President Pranab Mukherjee's daughter Sharmishta Mukherjee was among the 15 candidates named by the Congress Thursday for the Feb 7 Delhi assembly polls.
Sharmishta Mukherjee, 49, will contest from the Greater Kailash Colony assembly constituency in south Delhi. She will take on Aam Aadmi Party leader and former transport minister Saurabh Bhardwaj.
In the last assembly polls, Congress leader Virender Kasana had contested unsuccessfully from the seat.
Besides, former transport minister Ramakant Goswami did not make the cut. He too was defeated from Rajinder Nagar in the 2013 assembly polls. The party has fielded Brahm Yadav in Goswami's place.
With this, the tally of declared Congress candidates for the polls has reached 64.
Voting for the 70-member assembly will take place Feb 7 and results will be out Feb 10.
