A man arrested on a charge of rape committed suicide in Jharkhand's Chatra district, police said Saturday.

 

According to police, Madav Oraon was arrested on the charge of raping a girl Friday evening. He was kept in police lock up at Tandawa police station of Chatra district,  around 160 km from state capital Ranchi. 

 

On Saturday morning, he was found hanging from the ceiling of the room in which he was confined. 

 

 The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
