Rains playing truant in Mumbai and with a sabbatical early on Tuesday, it again appeared, albeit, with less intensity this time. But it is raining cats and dogs in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and surrounding areas, especially Thane, Dombivili, Kalyan and other catchment areas, with water logging reported in several of these places.
The suburban trains are running behind schedule and road traffic registered snarls at almost every major intersection, with potholes adding woes to motorists’ misery. One may, also, stumble on open gutters that belch out foul smelling water during the high tide period.
This belied all the predictions made by the Indian Metrological Departments (IMD) regarding scanty rainfall this monsoon, as the rains in the month of July has broken previous many years’ records.
