P.V.Anandpadmanabhan

The 70th birth anniversary of the former Indian premier late Rajiv Gandhi on Wednesday was observed as ‘Sadbhavana Diwas’. The Governor of Maharashtra K. Sankaranarayanan gave the Sadbhavana Pledge to the staff and officers of Raj Bhavan in the presence of Secretary to the Governor Vikas Chandra Rastogi and Deputy Secretary Parimal Singh.

The jawans of the State Reserve Police Force and Mumbai Police posted at Raj Bhavan and the staff of the Public Works Department also read out the pledge with the Governor. Earlier, the Governor offered flowers to the portrait of late Rajiv Gandhi.

The Sadbhavana Day Pledge calls upon the people ‘to work for the emotional oneness and harmony of all the people of India regardless of caste, creed, region, religion or language’ and to’ resolve all differences through dialogue and constitutional means without resorting to violence’.
