Rajya Sabha adjourned over Antony's statement

New Delhi, Aug 7 (IANS) The Rajya Sabha was adjourned Wednesday till noon as members raised the issue of discrepancy in Defence Minister A.K. Antony's statement on the killing of five Indian soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir.
The defence minister in a statement Tuesday in both houses had said "Twenty heavily armed terrorists, along with persons dressed as in Pakistan Army uniform", were responsible for the killings.
However, a defence ministry statement, also issued Tuesday, said Pakistan Border Action team was responsible for the killing.
"Defence minister made a statement yesterday (Tuesday) (and) defence ministry release said something else… the defence minister should clarify and apologise," BJP leader M. Venkiah Naidu said in the Rajya Sabha.
"He has let down the country," he said.
Opposition members created a din over the issue and the upper house was adjourned first for 15 minutes and then again till noon.
Other issues were also raised.
The Left parties raised the issue of political killings in West Bengal, while Telugu Desam Party (TDP) members from Seemandhra region raised their anti-Telangana concerns.
