Rebels quit AAP in Maha

All is not well with AAP in Maharashtra. Over 200 members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the state left the outfit in disgust, most of them belonging to the minority community, on Saturday afternoon, blaming the party leaders – Arvind Kejriwal and Mayank Gandhi of exhibiting ‘partisan’ attitude towards minorities.

They collected their plain caps in a box and will now send them to Kejriwal in New Delhi.

The leader of the rebels in Mumbai, Luqman Siddiqui, while castigating the state party apparatchik of sidelining them claimed, “Despite asking Kejriwal and Gandhi to give us proper posts in AAP, we were never given our due and treated as mere volunteers to tap into the vote bank of the minority community.”

He rued over being cold-shouldered by the AAP satraps whenever he and the others would try to give suggestions in meetings. Siddiqui reportedly said that many members of the party were despondent over AAP’s decision not to contest in the forthcoming state assembly elections. “We had come to them to work, and if a political party is not going to contest the elections, then what is the use?” querried Siddiqui.

Gandhi was not available for his comment. Well placed sources in the AAP said, “These accusations are coming up now because the party decided not to fight the state assembly elections. These leaders had joined AAP purely for political gains.”
