Relief from Immigration
Here’s some good news for international fliers boarding flights at T2 terminal. The two-layer immigration check has been reduced to one at Mumbai International airport. The new system is being introduced after the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in a recent circular asked all airports to go passenger-friendly.

According to airport sources, a detailed presentation was made to the Civil Aviation ministry and the MHA before the changes were introduced on June 9. "The old system required passengers to go through two immigration checks after the security check. This has now been cut down to just one immigration check from June 9," said a source.

The checks were put in place to ensure a fool proof immigration system, but passengers were inconvenienced and huge queues were a regular complaint, sources added. "The infrastructure and manpower manning immigration at two different levels have been shifted to one place," sources said.
