As part of its commitment to make Hyderabad a world-class metropolis, the Telangana government has proposed about Rs.2,000 crore for municipal body, water supply board and Metro rail in the budget for 2015-16.
Presenting the first full-fledged budget of Telangana, Finance Minister E. Rajender told the state assembly on Wednesday that an additional 260 million gallons of water per day (MGPD) will be supplied to the city by the end of this year.
He said liberal assistance was being given to Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) to complete Krishna Phase-III and Godavari Phase-I water works.
"Apart from completely cleansing the Hussain Sagar lake, the government is planning for strategic road and skyline development in Hyderabad city with an amount of Rs.1,600 crore," he said.
He promised that Hyderabad Metro will be completed by July 2017 as per schedule.
The budget proposed Rs.526 crore for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Rs.416 crore for Hyderabad Metro Rail and Rs.1,000 crore for HMWS&SB.
As part of the measures for public safety and security, the government has taken up CCTV project under which one lakh CCTV cameras will be installed in the city during 2015-16. All these cameras will be connected to the proposed Command and Control Centre.
Proposing Rs.973 crore for industrial incentives, the minister said 20 lakh acres of land identified as unfit for cultivation in the state will be developed for industrial use.
The state will develop new pharma city in 11,000 acres at Mucherla village, which is just 30 minutes' drive from the international airport and the Hyderabad outer ring road.
Hyderabad-Warangal Industrial Corridor, textile hub at Warangal and mini industrial townships along with industrial parks are also proposed to be developed during the year.
