A 16-year-old schoolgirl was raped and murdered in Tripura, police said here Friday.

 

 "Tarubala Debbarma, a student of class six, was raped and then murdered while she was returning home from a friend's house at Sidhai (in western Tripura) Thursday night," a police spokesman told reporters.

 

 Police recovered the body from a 100-feet deep gorge. Her hands were tied. West Tripura district police chief Bijoy Nag visited the area, 45 km north of here.  Four youths, including three school students, have been arrested on suspicion of having committed the crime.
